Oct 26 Day 53 on the road got up out of my hotel in Santa Rosa Ecuador and headed to the border early in the morning. I truly believe getting into Ecuador last week being that is was that easy was a fluke so I prepared myself
for the typical central america nightmare of border crossing. So got up early and got to the border in a few hours. Checked my bike out of Ecuador and got my passport stamped out within minutes at some small container. Well that was easy I cross the bridge into Peru told I have to get mandatory insurance. So I go to get that but its 35usd and I dont have usd on me. The guy tells me to go back into ecuador and get money out of the Cajero Autmatico (ATM) to get money. I cross back across the border the guys say its okay and head into this small town to find a ATM. Well first ATM I come across of course does not work. Then I try to ask the locals for help of finding one they point me in a direction and boom there is one grab the 35$ and head back to the border to give the guy my money grab my insurance papers pull up to immigration fill out the little card get stamped into Peru head to importation get the bike stamped in and boom off I go again back in peru only 9 months later ( i was just in peru for xmas and new years so im just passing by) with no god damn hassle. I ride for 8hrs into the town of Chiclayo. Instantly I grab some food get on some wifi and book a hotel for the night. I call it a night early and on day 54 I wake up at 7am to get on the road down to lima. My gps says its 13hrs and for some reason it still gets dark at 630 here (shittiest thing about south america so far that dark shit at 630). I make the ride down stop at some street vendors on my way grab some
more cerviche cause I just cant get enough of that shit. I ride a long this insane cliff sand dune just before entering into the city. I was plan on staying at this hostel that was a micro brewery but when I arrive I find out there are sold out of private rooms. So I go to this cafe thats right next door get on wifi and just book myself hotel near the square of Miraflores. I lay down for a minute and close my eyes but during this time I must of threw my pillow at the night stand hit my water an wake up after I hear a crash just to see the water spilling out on the top of my phone. I get my ass right up ask the hotel staff for a market. Get to a market an buy rice to hopefully save this damn thing. Throw it in the bag and go get something to eat. Get back to the hotel an call it a night cause I want to wake up early hopefully get my phone fixed if it needs it and head south. Day 55 wake up head down to the apple store (yeah i have one of those communist phones) well the apple store people are just as great as the product they sell as in they cant do shit for me. I was told to go up like 10 blocks to this place that does cell phone repairs. I go up to this place its a god damn mall with nothing but computer and cell phone repairs. I randomly walk up to the one store ask if anyone speaks english and random as fuck this kid from california says yeah I do. Come to find out he is peruvian born an raised in orange county but his parents brought him down to peru for a year to learn ethics ( as in not be a typical piece of shit american that is ignorant to the world). So he helps explain to the tech guys what happened they say to come back at 7 that night. Well fuck I was planning on checking out and heading south but I figured no where south is going to be able to fix it and im damn sure no one in bolivia will be able to either. So I said okay but as Im heading back to my
hotel to book another night I run into Arjan who is one of the guys from holland that was on the disaster of a boat ride from panama to colombia. He mentions he is about to do a bus tour around the city and said I should join. So I figure fuck it im stuck here for a day why not. So we do the bus tour for 3 and half hours view different parts of the city and getting off once to see the catacombs at a church. Were there for a hour and then back on the bus back to the starting point. He heads back to his hotel I head back to mine where I make another reservation and get re checked into my hotel. I head back to the cell
phone store at 7 they tell me my phone is fucked so I walk with my head down cause i just lost all my photos and decide to just go back to my hotel sad so I just stay in for the night. Day 56 I get up early to re pack the bike and make my way even further south then I was planning yesterday but now I am a day behind to meet my friend Dru in Bolivia on sat. So I make another 13hr ride south to Chala where I rode through 2hrs of a sand storm. I get checked into my hotel on the beach there which is pretty amazing view. I ride down the street a ways after being checked in to get some food. I get a full meal salad soup and entre for 3 damn dollars. Cheapest I ate yet but as I leave the place I see a cop standing by my bike. Walk up he askes in spanish is it mine I say yes he tells me its a no parking zone. Well unfortunately the sign is a block
away and its a god damn E with a slash through it and then in spanish. So i dont know what the hell it says and its a block away but come to find out it means no parking. He says the fine is 426 peruvian sol which is over a hundred dollars. I throw the cop like 11 dollars and ride away. Get back to my hotel relax and call it a night cause tomorrow I have another 13hr day of riding to make it in time to meet my boy Dru in bolivia. Day 57 get up early grab the breakfast and start my way towards bolivia but crossing back over the mountains. I really become to hate those pointy ass things people deem beautiful cause the roads are fucked to ride for hours. I ride all day to the border town of Desaguaderos but like i mentioned it gets fucking dark at lame ass 63o so its dark and its freezing cause now im currently 3,800 meters high (12,500ft) so I see a bunch of what looks like abandon huts on the side of the road. I figure fuck it its out of the wind im just going to camp inside I pull up throw down my sleeping bag and put up my air mattress and call it a night in my little hut.
